Our Mission

Alzheimers North Carolina, Inc. is dedicated to providing education, support and services to patients, their families, health care professionals and the general public while raising awareness and funding for research for a cause(s), treatment, prevention and cure for Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.

What We Do

Alzheimers North Carolina, Inc. provides family support, community education, public awareness and supports research for the prevention, cure and treatment of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. We serve 51 of North Carolina's counties (from the Triangle to the coast). Over 140,000 people in North Carolina are affected by Alzheimer's and these numbers are expected to quadruple by the year 2025.

We provide assistance with information, educational programs and services to patients, their families, health care professionals and the general public. Through support groups, Helpline and networking with other nonprofits and local, state and federal agencies, additional information and care is provided.

Our History

Our organization was founded at Duke University in 1980, relocated to Raleigh in 1985 through a generous grant from the Kate B. Reynolds Health Care Trust and moved to the Cameron Village area of Raleigh in 1989. In 1992, additional office space was acquired for a Family Resource Center which includes general information, family assistance materials and our lending library of books and videos. Recently, we relocated to 1305 Navaho Drive in Raleigh. 

Financial Information

We are a tax-exempt 501(c) 3 nonprofit corporation (tax I.D.#56-1501117), governed by a Board of Directors (community leaders, health care professionals and family members - one third of our Board must be family members). Our dedicated mission is to provide support and services to individuals and families suffering the devastating effects of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

Contributions are received through grants, memorials, honoraria, combined federal, state, county and city campaigns, corporate donations, employee payroll deductions and fundraising events provide programs and services - 100 percent of funds received for research are allocated to research.
